Animal-Assisted Therapy consists of goal-oriented and structured interventions that intentionally incorporate animals for the purpose of therapeutic gains. At its core, AAT recognized that the human-animal bond is a mutually beneficial and a dynamic relationship between people and animals that positively influences the health and well-being of both. In my practice and when appropriate, I may incorporate the use of my dog, Huckleberry, as a therapeutic partner in individual or family sessions.
